The economic benefits of D4s energy solutions outweigh the cost. Waste-to-energy plants do involve upfront expenditures, but hauling trash is expensive, and cost of electricity is escalating with the cost of fuel. This type of plant is classified as renewable fuel and therefore eligible for subsidies, but D4 systems are a cost effective solution even without tipping fees, alternative energy credits/incentives or carbon credits. The main discriminator of a D4 system is the efficiency in which it produces high quality/ high Btu syngas which provides a quick return on investment. D4 Energys closed loop process is non-pressurized and operates at no more than two atmospheres. This greatly reduces the hazard associated with a pressurized gas system, which then allows for smaller safety zones than those required by other pressurized gas systems.

Unlike traditional large-scale power plants, a D4 system can be generating power within six months of order. Additionally D4 systems are portable; the skid-mounted systems can be delivered to a site, assembled and be making energy in three weeks. The system can then be disassembled and moved to another site.
